Playing those AAces

Pocket aces are the best hand you can have in No limit Texas hold'em pre-flop. There is no greater pleasure than that of discovering you have two aces in hand.

However, for some players, these cards are a cause of anxiety, because they know it will be very difficult to accept defeat with any cards of this type and, even worse, cost you dearly. Some players place very high bets, and end the hand as quickly as possible or play just one player.

This can be a good technique, but even if you should make sure to take advantage of your aces to make money, and to win enough so you have to hope for a raise of another player in order to add some more chips in the pot. It may be a good idea to make a small raise before the flop instead of a relatively high bet  which could easily scare your opponents, and ending up only winning a small pot.

When playing No Limit Hold'em with two aces try to bet as much as possible after the flop, unless you managed to do that before. If you play well, you should by now be satisfied with the size of the pot and you could then proceed to win the pot by placing a very high bet or going all-in.

When going all-in on the flop, a few different things may happen. An opponent may be able to hit top pair or an overpair, and will call your bet and you win a sizeable pot most of the time. An opponent may however have not found anything on the flop and then leave without even trying to continue or can have a straight draw but without the odds to see, hence abandoning the hand or without looking at the cards nor the odds before folding. An opponent may also, however, have very good cards in your hand and call your bet.
